Village Centres

Chelmund’s Cross Village Centre, which has been developed over 4 years, is the largest of the new North Solihull village centres. It was completed in November 2017 at a total cost of almost £30m.
The £10m Bishop Wilson Primary School opened to pupils in September 2013. The school also incorporates St. Andrew’s Church.
The Enterprise Centre provides office space for small and new start-up businesses alongside new community facilities.
The health centre, which opened to the public in November 2015, includes a GPs practice, a dental practice and a pharmacy.
New retail, which includes a Co-operative store and 2 further units was completed in the summer of 2017. A lease has been signed for a new community-run fish and chip shop in one of the units.
A specialist care home opened to residents in November 2017.
Major road improvements have been carried out on the Chester Road with a new junction and public realm being created .
Three Trees Baptist Church has also undergone a major refurbishment and now includes up to date community facilities and a lovely cafe.

A total of nearly £20m has been invested in the new village centre in Smith’s Wood. Work is now almost complete on this massive project which has resulted in a new high street and public realm at Burton’s Way. There are eight retail outlets, which include a bakery, hairdressers, a fish & chip shop, Quids In, Spar shop & Post Office, community facilities and office accommodation above occupied by Solihull Council. New houses have been built on the site of two demolished tower blocks.

The development also includes a new primary school, Smith’s Wood Community Primary which opened to pupils in 2009 and incorporates Smith’s Wood Parish Council and a gym.

A new Stonham Assisted Living scheme was opened in 2015 which meets the needs of vulnerable people.

A brand new health centre is currently under construction next to the school and is due to open in 2019.

Three Trees Centre Refurbishment

The Three Trees Centre in Chelmund’s Cross has recently finished its latest refurbishment work. The refurbishment has given the centre some fantastic new meeting rooms with bright spacious interiors and easy access to the outside of the centre.

Chelmund’s Cross Health Centre

Work on the new £3m Chelmund’s Cross Health Centre is well underway. The health centre will be the new location for the existing Chelmund’s Cross GP surgery, alongside a brand new pharmacy and home to the local dentist’s surgery. The dentist’s old building will be demolished to make way for the last element of the village centre which is hoped to be an assisted living/residential scheme.
