Smith's Wood Fun Day - 25 July

Smith’s Wood Parish Council would like to invite you to Smith’s Wood Village Centre for the annual Community Fun Day on Saturday 25 July.

The Fun Day will also see Elmwood Place officially opened to the public following the recent regeneration work that has taken place in the area.

A wide variety of stalls and activities will be available to the community on the day, including go-karts, Zumba and a selection of craft stalls. There will even be a chance for talented residents to get involved with Smith’s Wood’s Got Talent as well as an opportunity to meet the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Glenis Slater. Refreshment stalls will also be open throughout the day.

The Fun Day kicks off at 11am and festivities will continue through until 4pm predominately outside Smith’s Wood Community Gym. The Mayor of Solihull will also be joining the excitement at 12:30pm! 

A total of nearly £20m has been invested on the new village centre in Smith’s Wood.  Work is now almost complete on this project which has resulted in a new high street and public realm at Burton’s Way, eight new retail units, let to a number of national and local retailers, community facilities and Elmwood Place, office accommodation occupied by Solihull Council.

The development has already seen the construction of a brand new primary school, Smith’s Wood Community Primary which opened to pupils in 2009 and also incorporates Smith’s Wood Parish Council and a gym.

A new Stoneham Assisted Living scheme has just been completed which will meet the needs of vulnerable people. It is also planned to build a new health centre next to the school.
